2020 ICONS AWARDS: African Church Urges Nigeria to take Challenges to God
His Eminence, Dr. Emmanuel J. Udofia, Primate/Archbishop Cathedral of Christ, Bishop of Calabar Diocese African Church has called on Nigeria to commit the problem confronting the country into God’s hand and charged the youth to maintain peace in the land and acknowledge God in their endeavors.
He spoke in a chat with Lens reporter shortly after he was installed by the African church Youth Association (ACYA), our Saviours’ Parish Uwanse during the 2020 ICONS Awards and the 25th anniversary thanksgiving last Sunday as a grand Patriach. The primate was represented at the occasion by Ven. Edet Ekpo Ekpa, Cathedral Priest, the African Church, Cathedral of Christ, Calabar.
Dr. Emmanuel Udofia who acknowledged that the world as a whole is passing through turbulent times and observed that the country Nigeria was not an exception.
He charged the youths to serve the lord when they are still young, maintain peace and recognize God in all things.
Said he, “The whole world is passing through one problem ot the other. Nigeria should remain calm, be focused and take all burdens to God”.
“the youths should serve the lord when they are young. They should maintain peace, recognize God in all they do, believe in God and God will provide all for them inspite of what is happening in the world today”.
Speaking with Lens correspondent in a separate interview at the event, the chairman 2020 ICONS AWARDS planning committee, Etim Alice Ndem discloed that a total of fifty four members received awards of excellence during the celebration.
“The Excellence award is for our members and some ministers who have served the association and contributed immensely towards the growth and development of the Church” she said.
“We deemed it fit to appreciates and recognize those who could come up even in rain the when there were activities to support the association and the church”.
“ACYA also remembered those who were our members but now with other denominations after their marriage for the impact they created while in our perish”.
Some of the awardees including the Public relations officer ACYA, brother Edem Joseph Samuel expressed satisfaction with the honour done them noting that the award will spur them to continue to serve in vine yard of God.
The 35th Anniversary 2020 ICONS AWARDS was tagged “living for Christ.”
