2023 Carnival Calabar dry run

The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. Elvert Ayambem representing Governor Bassey Otu on Sunday flagged off the 2nd Carnival Calabar dry-run in Calabar.

The fun filled event that caravanned along the 12 kilometers Carnival routes showcased several bands including Masta Blasta, seagulls, Bayside, Calas Vegas, Passion 4, Diamond Band among others portrayed “SEASON OF SWEETNESS,” the Carnival theme for 2023.

Earlier, the chairman of the State Carnival Commission, Mr. Gabe Onah said the street lights and associated paraphernalia would be restored to functionality backed with good security in a clean and green environment.

Speaking while flagging off the 2nd Carnival dry run at the millennium park in Calabar, the governor said, “we are going to have the best carnival that this country has ever seen this year, thus sending message to our friends in the diaspora that Cross River State is ready and very ready to host you because this year’s carnival will be the best in the world since its inception”.

And acknowledging the “Season of Sweetness” theme of Carnival Calabar 2023, the lead Pastor of Gospel House, Home of the Gospel Deliverance Ministry International Pastor… in a chat with newsmen on Sunday, November 12, described the month of November preceding the 2023 Calabar Carnival in December 2023 as a period for extra goodness and unfailing love referencing Exodus 33:19, “And He said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before thee, and I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.”

He concluded by calling on Christians to expect a divine turn around as they will end year 2023 well referencing Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the thoughts that I think towards you said the Lord, thoughts of peace and not evil to give you an expected end”.

The 32-day cultural fiesta would be officially flagged-off on November 31st 2023 with fireworks and opening of Christmas village at Calabar Municipal Council grounds.
