2023: ‘Do not crucify Udom, he was mislead by selfish people’_Senator Albert

The senator representing Akwa Ibom North-East and one of the governorship aspirants Senator Albert Akpan has called on his supporters and members of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP to have faith that the will of God will be done in the 2023 gubernatorial race.

He made this call Monday during his consultation with stakeholders in Itu local government council to inform them that his governorship aspiration drive was still intact, notwithstanding the governor’s earlier endorsement of Pastor Umo Eno as his successor.

Akpan described Governor Emmanuel as a good man and should be pitied, rather than being vilified, because he was, unfortunately, being misled by some selfish persons.

He urged the people not to feel discouraged that the governor did not pick his preferred successor from Itu/Ibiono federal constituency, but to remain steadfast in faith as God has the final say.

“Honestly speaking, I believe that the governorship position of Akwa Ibom come 2023 is there for us to take. Akwa Ibom people stand for equity, justice, and fairness. And Etinan and Uyo federal constituencies have had their turns.

” I can assure you that God will give the next governor to Itu/Ibiono federal constituency.

“I believe that the same God that blesses the work of our hands will bless us this time around. All we need to do is to pray for the will of God to be done.

“My charge to all of you is that we shall remain steadfast and peaceful. We will not allow anybody to intimidate us. I want to assure everybody that power belongs to God. That same God will fight for us,” he said.

Receiving the governorship aspirant to his local government area, the pioneer National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Senator Anietie Okon urged the people of Itu/ Ibiono federal constituency to be resolute in their quest to produce the governor in 2023, stressing, “It is your democratic right. There is no going back on this course.”
