2023 General Elections: Prince Otu gets Cross River APC ticket
Senator (Prince) Bassey Otu, the erstwhile consensus candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC) has emerged as its flag bearer for 2023 governorship elections in Cross River State.
After much political horse-trading and intrigues over the purported plan of Governor Ben Ayade to hand over power to a Southerner after his tenure, Prince Otu, a former lawmaker who represented Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and Cross River South Senatorial District in the National Assembly emerged winner at the party’s governorship primary election on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at the U.J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar.
The exercise which began after the accreditation of delegates on Thursday ended in the early hours of Friday, May 27, 2022, with the result announced by the Chairman of the Primary Election Committee Mr. Mohammed Kolo following the withdrawal of Senator John Owan Enoh and Chief Chris Agara.
Chairman of APC in Cross River State Barrister Alphonsus Eba and Ambassador Soni Abang, the Director-General of Otu’s Campaign organization congratulated him for his victory and appealed to the electorates to replicate the same kind of gesture for the party in the 2023 general elections.
