2023: Ibibio indigenes in Cross River endorse Ekpo Okon for Senate
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Cross River Southern Senatorial District in the 2023 general elections, Ntufam Ekpo Okon has been endorsed by Ibibio Indigenes, the largest ethnic group in Akwa Ibom who are engaged in business or other endeavours in Cross River State.
Engr. Solomon Jessey a leader of the socio-cultural group spoke on behalf of Elder Friday Itie, President of Ibibio Community in Cross River State in a chat with LENS Reporter at the child dedication service of master Michael Duke Ina at the Presbyterian Church, Duke Town Parish Calabar said they have decided to give their support to Ntufam Ekpo Okon because of his friendly deposition to non-indigenes in the State
The Service which was moderated by Rev. Akim Mbeg drew his text from Mark 10:13-16 “And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them, But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased and said unto them, suffer the children to come unto me, and he forbid them not, for of such is the Kingdom of God, Verily I say unto you, whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein, And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them and blessed”.
While fielding questions from newsmen at the venue of the event on Sunday, the former PDP State Chairman and ex-commissioner in Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) said the current misunderstanding between the former Vice Presidential candidate of the party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and Nyesom Wike, the Rivers governor will be resolved soon and PDP will emerge stronger as one united family to win the 2023 general elections.
He promised to change the narrative in representation and pursue the actualization and completion of the Calabar/Itu highway as well as attract tangible infrastructural developments to the area if voted into power in 2023 to represent the people of Cross River Southern Senatorial District.
