2023: One million match for Jarigbe in Ogoja, others
There was traffic gridlock in the streets of Ogoja town on Saturday, October 15, 2022, as supporters of the member representing the Northern senatorial district of Cross River in the upper chamber of the National Assembly Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe organized a one million march to TTC grounds Igobi, Ogoja in solidarity with his reelection for the second term in 2023.
At the rally, the State chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Barrister Venatius Ikem charged them to vote for Senator Jarigbe during the elections to replicate his sterling performance of developing the hitherto neglected district.
Senator Jarigbe used the occasion to appeal to his teaming supporters not to fall for the cheap ploy of vote buying which is against the tenets of democracy and vote for him because of his infrastructural development and human capacity impact among the people promising to do more than he has done in the last one year in the National Assembly.
In another development, the carnival Calabar 2022 Dry-run was held in Calabar on Sunday, October 16, 2022.
The run-show kicked-off by Governor Ben Ayade featured all the former bands with the addition of Diamond and Calas Vegas bands marching from the Millennium Park through the major Carnival routes in Calabar.
The second Dry-run will take place on November 13, 2022, before D-Day in December 2022 to reset the show which was suspended for 2 years because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, residents have blamed the government for failure to clean the city of huge refuse heaps and the lack of capacity to repair internal roads in Calabar, Canaan city, Nigeria’s tourism destination.
