2023: PDP lawmaker defects to APC in Cross River State Constituency, Central Senatorial District

One of the six members that remained in the People’s Democratic Party in the 24 Members legislature of the Cross River State House of Assembly when 18 other members decamped with Governor Ben Ayade to the All Progressive Congress Hon. Nelson Ofem has defected to the APC.

Ofem, a member representing Yakurr I State Constituency said he and his supporters are joining the APC because of the APC governorship candidate Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu whom he describes as dynamic, humble, more popular, and more acceptable to the people than his rivals in the 2023 governorship contest.

The defection ceremony was one of the highlights when the APC governorship candidate Prince Bassey Otu visited Yakurr Local Government Area in the Central Senatorial district as part of his consultation and “Thank You” tour to the people who supported him morally and financially during the party primaries.

Hon. Ofem said that anybody that has a good conscience must support Senator Prince Bassey Otu on Friday, August 26, 2022, and has decided to switch over to his camp with thousands of his supporters not minding that the PDP governorship candidate Senator (Prof.) Sandy Onor is from the same Central Senatorial District as him.

Prince Otu received the decampees and promised them inclusion and reward in his administration if voted to pilot the affairs of the state in 2023.
