2023 Presidential Elections: Group urges Amechi to declare for presidency
A Non-Governmental Organization, Unity House Foundation (UHF) has urged Nigeria’s Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amechi to declare for the 2023 Presidential Election.
Chima Onuoha, National Chairman of the Foundation said this in Calabar during a solidarity peace match organised by the foundation to drum support for the Amechi for president project.
According to him, the call became necessary following the impressive performance of the minister in the transport sector since the assumption of office in 2015.
He also argued that Amechi has done very well in public offices as Speaker, Governor, and Director General of the Buhari Campaign Organization.
“Basically we are here to ask Honorable Rotimi Amechi to contest for the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2023.
“Amechi has the capacity to rule Nigeria, having been a Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly and Speaker of Speakers of Nigeria for eight years.
“He was the Governor of Rivers State and Governor of Governors for eight years: Director General of Buhari Campaign Organization in 2015 and 2019 respectively: and now a Minister for seven years.
“So, we are calling on him to declare his interest as soon as possible because Nigeria needs him, ” he said.
The chairman further stated that the Minister has the energy and enthusiasm to move Nigeria to greater heights.
“As governor of Rivers, Amechi left a lasting legacy in the education sector with the massive renovation of schools, teachers employment and creating conducive teaching and learning environment.
“This was unprecedented in the history of Nigerian states. I have never seen such and I am confident he will replicate the same for Nigeria if given the opportunity, ” he said.
Mr Austine Iyaji, Cross River State chairman of the foundation said Amechi was the best performing Minister in Nigeria having facilitated and made functional moribund railways systems in parts of the country.
He said that Amechi Presidency would restore the hope of the youths of the country.
The Rivers State chairman of the foundation, Mr Justice Ezenwo described the minister as an astute administrator and a lover of hard work.
“Chibuike Rotimi Amechi is a bridge-builder: a workaholic and the only person that can change the face of Nigeria, ” he said.
