2023 Senate: Ekpo Okon promises change in representation

The winner of the Cross River South Senatorial District primaries in the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and former chairman of the Party in the state, Ntufam Ekpo Okon has promised to change the narrative in representation if he wins the 2023 elections.

Okon who was a Commissioner in the Niger Delta Development Commission made the disclosure in a chat with LENS Reporter saying unlike the status quo at the moment where the constituents are given stipends, he will from time to time through his constituency office and grass-roots network impact people with a sustainable source of livelihood alongside other meaningful sources of empowerment.

According to him, arrangements have reached an advanced stage for the launching of the campaign in earnest expected to reach all the nooks and crannies of Biase, Akamkpa, Odukpani, and Calabar Municipality, Calabar South, Akpabuyo, and Bakassi Local Government Areas which make-up the Senatorial District.

It would be recalled that Ntufam Ekpo Okon in 2019 stepped down for Senator Gershom Bassey and his victory in the just concluded primaries against his only contender, Dr. Joseph Edet polling 184 votes to 47 votes was described as a win-win by Edet who has held high-profile political offices in Cross River State under the three democratically elected governors and has described Ntufam Okon as his elder brother and old warhorse who is very strong with full of experience and has a lot to learn from.

He has been issued a certificate of return as the PDP candidate for the 2023 general elections without any litigation.
