2nd 2022 Carnival Dry-Run feature in Calabar

Traffic gridlock marked the 2nd Carnival Dry-run held in Calabar on Sunday, November 13, 2022.

The procession which took off from Millennium Park had ranking bands like Master Blaster, Calas Vegas, Seagulls, Bayside et cetera.

Security operatives tried to control the mammoth crowd along the Carnival routes as commuters equally rushed to disperse from churches to beat roadblocks.

Some miscreants in black regalia were seen chanting inciting songs coupled with activities of the Obidients movement of the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi which disrupted the flow of the Carnival.

Observers describe the outcome as unhealthy and should be checkmated to avoid the 2022 Carnival in December from being hijacked by hoodlums hiding under the cover of Political campaigns to cause havoc as the 2023 general elections beckons.

However, men of the Operation Dragon Squad, an exclusive team of the Cross River State Police Command brought the chaotic situation under control as they provided security cover to members of the Carnival Bands throughout the duration of the caravan parade.
