A’ Ibom 2023: “Senator Bassey Albert Akpan is on the ballot to win”_ Unwanta

An elder statesman, Archbishop Andrew Unwanta says Senator Bassey Albert Akpan (OBA), CON is on the ballot to win March 11, 2023, Governorship election being the most popular and accepted candidate.

The renowned grassroots politician and the immediate past Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Service Commission while speaking on the forthcoming governorship election said when elected, Senator Albert’s administration will lead Akwa Ibom State into all-around prosperity.

“Let me say that with Senator Albert’s pedigree and experience in the private and public services, he will certainly offer Akwa Ibom a very impactful leadership as being craved for by the people of the State”.

The chieftain of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) who granted newsmen interviews in Uyo was firm on why OBA should be given the mandate to lead Akwa Ibom after the general elections.

“We’ve watched him very closely and he has been doing well since the time that he was Commissioner for Finance in Akwa Ibom and when he became a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He did so well and is currently doing so – empowering and educating people. So far 481 Akwa Ibom indigent sons and daughters have enjoyed his total package scholarship programme, helping people in many ways. I don’t see him changing in any form when he becomes the Governor of Akwa Ibom State..

“Senator Bassey Albert is coming with his positive Impact Agenda to salvage Akwa Ibom State and help those that have been deprived for years; those that have been in the system with evidence of commitment and loyalty without any reward. I think it is time that all should key in to see what God will do.

“I am too sure that Distinguished Senator Bassey Albert is coming to salvage this State and is coming to help those that have been neglected, those that have been used and dumped in this state. I think he’s out for them and I’m too sure he will do it. I don’t see him changing,” he said.

Asked to rate OBA’s performance in the Senate since 2015, Archbishop Unwanta scored him highly, saying “he has done exceptionally well and his performances have been followed with a series of honours and that speaks a lot for him.”

“Nationally, he has been doing well, and in the State, he has been doing well. One of his best actions was when other senators in this State defected in 2018/19, but he stood firm and supported the current Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel to have a second term. He did so well but today, as I said, the issue of the reward system is not there with this government.

“OBA is recognised nationally and at the State level, he is loved by everyone because of his performances. So there is no gainsaying in trying to emphasize that he is coming to do well. That is my assessment,” Unwanta quipped.

Archbishop Unwanta dismissed fears that Senator OBA will not have the chance to stand for the governorship election in 2023 with the unfolding event. “l can assure you that Distinguished Senator Bassey Albert Akpan is already on the ballot by the grace of God. All power comes from God and God gives it to whomsoever he considers. Forget the propaganda making the rounds and deal with reality. I’m very confident and very sure that Distinguished Senator Bassey Albert (OBA) is on the ballot to win,” he added.
