A resident of Ikot Uduak erosion site calls for construction of bye-pass at Efio-Ete roundabout to ease traffic
A concern citizen and resident of Ikot Uduak erosion site in Calabar Municipal Council Area in Cross River State, Engr. Edet Udoh has called for construction of a bye-pass to ease traffic congestion at Efio-Ete roundabout.
Udoh who is the Managing Director of GAPATECH NIGERIA LIMITED and member of Nigerian Association of Technological Engineers (MNATE) and Council of Registered Engineers of Nigeria (COREN) said this Wednesday while fielding questions from newsmen in Calabar.
He appreciated the Executive Governor of the State, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu for his development and human oriented strides since he came on board in May 2023 with his people first mantra style of administration. Udoh commend him for the construction of the 2km Nyong Edem/Eyo Okon and Efio-Ette-Ikot Eyo link roads in Calabar Municipal Council Area using concrete pavement aas well as the rehabilitation and maintenance of some hitherto neglected roads in Calabar metropolis by the state Ministry of Works and Infrastructure under direct Labour and beg to appeal for the rehabilitation of Assemblies of God road and drainage project at Ikot Uduak Erosion site along Assemblies of God church road.
He suggest a two span bridge to cross to Parliamentary by Ikot Efa Junction to ease traffic congestion at Efio-Ete roundabout so as to cushion the suffering of residents in the area. He noted that by providing a by-pass from MCC Road to Old Parliamentary village extension linking Ikot Efa Junction to decongest the ever-busy Efio-Ete round-about instead of proposing to construct a fly over there would save cost of paying compensation for properties to be affected in the course of the project.
It is crucial that His Excellency does the needful to ensure un-interrupted traffic flow and access in the metropolis by changing the narratives for a reliable transportation as there is always gridlock in the morning and evening hours of the day at Efio-Ete round-about junction by motorists and doubling down, urge His Excellency and the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure to come for inspection of bridge point to ascertain the propose project as suggested.
