A youth activist loud President Buhari for plan to constitute NDDC board
A youth activist in Cross River State has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for sacking the Interim Administrator of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Mr. Effiong Okon Akwa and the constitution of a new management team and governing board of the NDDC in line with section 5(2) of the NDDC Act. 2000.
Comrade Ekeng Asido in a conversation on Thursday with a LENS reporter in Calabar said the sacking of the Sole Administrator which many groups in the Niger Delta have continuously kicked against the arrangement seen as unconstitutional the implementation of section 5(2) of the NDDC Act: 2000 which begins with sending names of nominees to the National Assembly for approval would pacify and satisfy the yearnings of the aggrieved Niger Delta youths.
The NDDC has been plagued with leadership problems since the exit of Senator Victor Ndoma- Egba as Board chairman and the management led by Nsima Ekere prior to the 2019 general elections.
It would be recalled that in August 2019 President Buhari nominated new board members who were never sworn in.
