Abalama shore protection: Indigenes commend NDDC over completion of project

The people of the Abalama community in the Asari-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State have commended the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, over the completion of the sand-filling and reclamation project in their area.

The people made their feelings known during a pre-commissioning inspection of the project by officials of the NDDC.

Abalama community is one amongst several riverine communities in the Niger Delta region battling the challenges of flooding and scarcity of land for development.

To address these age-long challenges, the NDDC awarded a contract for sand-filling and land reclamation, which the contractor has completed.

Satisfied with the quality of work, the people of Abalama told members of the NDDC Project Commissioning Committee that the Commission has wiped away their pains.

The reclamation project covers a total of 214,658 square metres, and construction of a bund wall for the area.
