Aggrieved Nigerian wants improved service delivery by NIPOST

A Calabar based civil engineer and businessman Mr. Edet Udo Udo Nwuh has lamented the delay in mail delivery by the Nigerian Postal Service and thus called for improved service delivery by NIPOST in the country.

Engr. Edet bore his mind in a conversation with The LENS reporter over what he described as unethical for a mail he posted at the Housing Estate post office by express on August 26, 2021not to reach its destination as at 8 September 2021.

He said the certificate of posting is RL11366911 4NG-092927, bearing August 26th, 2021 date with PN 62490 and destination-Public Complaint Commission, Federal Secretariat, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Edet said as at 8th September 2021 when he called the Hon. Commissioner’s office of the Commission in Uyo, the letter was yet to be delivered.

LENS visited SERVICOM desk of NIPOST at the Calabar road office to verify the claim. An official who preferred to speak on condition of ananomity said the problem with the agency’s faliure to deliver mails as and when due is not caused by the despatch unit to the destination of postage but rather by the attitudes of some staff in the sorting and delivery units to facilitate its delivery to destination.

He appealed for a rejig of mail delivery system in Nigeria in compliance with global best practice where the mailman is always a delight . Effort to speak with the Head of NIPOST in Cross River state was not feasible as at the time of filling in this report.
