The Akwa Ibom State government has started moves to sack illegal person (s) occupying government-acquired lands and estates in the Uyo capital city.
The moves according to the Lands and Water Resources Commissioner Capt Iniobong Ekong rtd., were to ensure that persons and corporate institutions with genuine and authentic allocation papers are protected from the criminal activities of interloper developers and illegal land grabbers.
Consequently, the ministry of Lands and water resources has called on all those with claims to have been allocated plots of land in all the acquired estates to contact officials of the ministry for revalidation and documentation of such claims within two weeks.
This is contained in a statement dated July 4, 2022, and signed by the commissioner for lands and water Resources advising allottees to ensure compliance with the notice in order to avoid unpleasant consequences.
“Notice of recovery of government plots in Anua, Eniong, Ifa Ikot Okpon government residential estates, and other government-owned estates in the Uyo capital city”.
The statement read, “notice is hereby given by the Akwa Ibom State Government through the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Lands and Water Resources of Government’s intention to recover ALL encroached plots of land in Government Residential Estates”.
“All plot owners should submit their allocation letters to the Title Verification Committee in the Ministry of Lands and Water Resources for verification and documentation for authenticity within two (2) weeks from the date of this publication”.
Also, “Allottees who are yet to pay a premium are given one month clear” all debts or risk losing their allocation”.
He, therefore, warned land grabbers and interloper developers to vacate all government-owned estates or be ready to face prosecution.
