AKHA lawmaker spurs Ibiono Ibom women to support President Tinubu, Umo Eno, others in 2027
The Member representing Ibiono Ibom State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and Chairman, House Committee on Health, Nutrition and Food Security, Hon. Moses Essien, has charged women in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area to actively support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for the continued development of the state and the nation.
He gave the charge during Women Sensitization Tour on Civic Responsibilities and the commissioning of Nigeria for Women Projects, themed “Women ARISE,” held at the Multi-Purpose Council Hall, Ibiono Ibom Local Government Secretariat.
Essien assured that Ibiono Ibom people would reciprocate the good works of Governor Umo Eno, particularly in the 2027 general elections.
The lawmaker commended Governor Umo Eno for key interventions in the area, including the Renewed Hope Mother and Child Specialist Hospital and the completion of the Use Ikot Amama, Ikpanaya Road, among other projects.
He noted that Ibiono Ibom has a population of about 27,900 indigenes, with women accounting for 52.2 percent, describing them as the “vote basket” of the local government.
He therefore urged women to participate fully in ongoing APC e-registration, obtain their Permanent Voter Cards, and engage actively in civic processes.
Governor Umo Eno, represented by the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, PhD, emphasized that the governor understands the strength, unity, and strategic role of women in societal development.
She encouraged women to revalidate their voter cards to enable them exercise their civic rights effectively.
Waving a bunch of brooms as a symbol of love and unity, Senator Eyakenyi urged women to support one another and form women clusters across wards to strengthen cooperation and collective progress.
She as well encouraged them to enroll for the National Identification Number (NIN) to position themselves to benefit from government programmes.
She called on the women to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno for second terms in 2027, noting that the Umo Eno-led administration has executed no fewer than 15 projects in less than three years.
In his opening remark, the Executive Chairman of Ibiono Ibom Local Government Council, Rt. Hon. Asuakak Umoh appreciated Governor Umo Eno for the initiative, describing it as a unifying platform that would further strengthen women across the State.
He also lauded the organizers for creating opportunities for women to showcase and maximize their potentials.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare urged women without Permanent Voter Cards and National Identification Numbers to obtain them, stressing that civic participation is essential for relevance and inclusion.
She encouraged women to register with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to better support President Tinubu, Governor Umo Eno, and other party candidates, noting that party registration and voter participation also open doors to cooperative and empowerment benefits.

Moses Essien’s wife, Mrs. Ekaette Moses Essien, Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Akwa Ibom State, Mrs. Helen Eno Obarieke, Member representing Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency in the House of National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ime Okon who was represented by his wife, Member representing Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo; Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Umana, and the Wife of the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Inemesit Uwah, former Ibiono Ibom Council Chairmen, Rt. Hon. Ekomabasi Akpan and Rt. Hon. Ekopimo Polycarp, among others.
