Akwa Ibom SWAN commends Udom on sporting facilities development in the state

Akwa Ibom state Sports Writers Association(SWAN) has commended the outgoing governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel for finishing strong in the sports sector, especially the remodeled Uyo Township Stadium.

Also commended is the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Sir Monday Ebong Uko, for facilitating the process of completing the remodeled stadium within the tenure of the present administration.

The Association made this commendation during it’s May Congress, held at NUJ press center, Information Drive, Uyo

The six point COMMUNIQUÉ was signed by Emanuel Akpan and Theophilus Udo, Chairman and Secretary SWAN, Akwa Ibom chapter as well as Timothy Ekpo and Enefiok Ndon Chairman and Secretary Communiqué Drafting Committee.

Congress further, “appealed to government to put in place a committee for the maintenance of the three stadia in Uyo, Ikot Ekpene and Eket as ewll as other sports facilities in the state.

“Congress resolved that SWAN should set agenda for the incoming government to fast track the growth and development of sports in the state.

The Congress which was chaired by the State chapter chairman of SWAN, Mr. Emmanuel Akpan, deliberated on a wide range of issues and resolved as follows:

“Congress acknowledged that the May 26, 2023 congress was historic as it came at a time that Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration was rounding off even as it pledged to give the incoming administration the necessary support to deliver on its mandate on sports development.

“Congress pledged support to the SWANECO ahead of the National Triennial Congress of SWAN coming up in July.

“Congress threw its support for the candidacy of Bonny Nyong who is vying for the post of Deputy National president of SWAN”.
