Akwa Ibom SWAN donates water to Akwa United FC

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Akwa Ibom State chapter, has donated packs of water to the management of Akwa United FC as part of it’s support to the team.

The donation took place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium today during the Club’s morning traing session.

According to the chairman of the association, Comrade Emmanuel Akpan, who was accompanied by his executives said, “we are indeed grateful that Akwa United is doing very well in the league and we believe that the club needs support from stakeholders including SWAN to make history by winning their first NPFL title.

“In our little way of showing support to our darling team Akwa United, aside publicising the activities of the club, we are happy to donate these packs of water to the club. Water is life and we pray that as the players will drink this water, God will bless them with supernatural strength to play, win and finish this season as champions.

“We in SWAN will continue to support and promote all activities of Akwa United as the flagship team in Akwa Ibom State and we wish the team success in all its remaining matches this season”, he said

Receiving the items on behalf of Akwa United, the club chairman Elder Paul Bassey commended SWAN for their show of love and support to the team and assured that the gift would be adequately used.

“This is coming to us as a big surprise, infact, this is one support we cherish so much. On behalf of the players, management and staff of Akwa United, we want to specially thank the leadership of SWAN in Akwa Ibom State for your thoughtfulness and support to us.

“As a football club, water is one of those things that we consume everyday, especially during training sessions and on match days. We are grateful that the quantity of water the association is presenting to us today will help in no small measure.

“It’s our belief that this water you have presented to us will energize us as we go into the last five matches of the season, trust us that we are not taking this gesture for granted, it’s very dear to us and once again, we say thank you for this show of love and support”.

Nigeria Professional Football League leaders Akwa United are three points clear at the top of the log and will engage Warri Wolves on Wednesday July 20th, 2021 on match-day 34 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium -Nest of Champions- at 4pm.
