APC Calabar chapter call out State Chairman over internal wrangling
The crisis rocking the Calabar Municipal Council chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has deepened with aggrieved members calling on the State Chairman, Barrister Alphonsus Eba to refrain from fanning ember of disunity in the contention for the party leadership.
The acting APC Chapter Chairman in Calabar Municipal Council Area, Mr. Magnus Okon while fielding questions from news men on Sunday said since a vote of no confidence was passed on the embattled former chapter chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Mbora in October, 2023 after an enlarged exco meeting, it is out of normal for Eba, to continue dealings with Mbora, an action he said is against the party constitution.
And speaking to newsmen on condition of anonymity, a senior party official said the Governor, Senator Prince Bassey Otu should step into the matter to restore normalcy as the state leader of the party to avert a breakdown of law and order.
It would be recalled that the crisis in the Calabar Municipal Council chapter of the APC is linked to the intervention by the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Felix Idem who doubles as leader of the APC in Calabar Municipal Council in the toll collection at Ika-Ika Oqua market which was formally managed by Mr. Mbora due to outcry of traders in the market over his agents high-handedness.
Effort by LENS Reporter to reach Mr. Emmanuel Mbora for comments on the development proved abortive as at the time of filing this report.
