APC chieftain commends Appeal Court ruling over Owan Enoh’s suit against Bassey Otu

The chairman Board of trustees (BOT) of Prince Bassey Otu 2023 project in Cross River State, has welcomed the Appeal Court ruling which upheld the candidature of Senator Prince Bassey Otu as the authentic candidate of the All Progressive Congress in the 2023 governorship elections in Cross River State.

Mr. Gabriel A. Adah, chairman of the commercial Transport Regulatory Agency (CTRA) while fielding questions from newsmen in Calabar on Monday, December 19, 2022, said the Appeal Court affirmation of Senator Prince Bassey Otu as the authentic APC governorship flag bearer in Cross River State, the issue of vacancy existing in the governorship ticket of the APC in the forthcoming 2023 General Elections has finally been settled.

It would be recalled Senator John Owan Enoh had argued that the APC governorship candidate, Senator Prince Bassey Otu was not eligible to contest for the party primaries held on May 26, 2022 and that the National working committee (NWC) which cleared him to contest had done so pre-emptily without such powers.

To this end, he sought redress in the Federal High Court in Calabar and not satisfied with the ruling, filed an appeal- No CA /C/337/22 at the Appeal Court in Calabar.

Senator Bassey Otu through his counsel Barrister Mike Ozekhome (SAN) argued that the NWC being responsible for the daily administration of the party had duly exercised its powers in clearing the candidate which Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu while presiding over the case by an originating summons brought before a Calabar Federal High Court had dismissed Enoh’s suit as lacking in merit.

Since none of the courts reports indicted Senator Otu or find him culpable as required by the APC constitution and guidelines, his position as the APC governorship candidate in Cross River is secured.
