APC sweeps 18 local council seats in Cross River State
The All Progressive Congress (APC) has won all the 18 local government area election chairmanship seats and 196 counsellorship slots in the November 2, 2024 local government elections conducted by Cross-River State Independent Electoral Commission.
This was disclosed in the address by the chairman of CROSIEC, Dr. Ekong Edet Boco in a press briefing to announce results of the local council polls on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at the Conference-room of the agency.
According to the released results,15 chairmanship seats were won by men while 3 were won by women candidates among whom are Hon. Pastor Patrick Archibong, Calabar South LGA; Hon. Egbala Bassey, Abi LGA; Hon. Effiong Okon, Bakassi LGA, Hon. (Mrs.) Mercy Nsor, Ikom LGA and Apostle (Hon.) James Anam, Calabar municipal council area whom analyst forcasted may win.
Dignitaries at the occasion among others were Chief of Staff to Governor Bassey Edet Otu, Hon Emmanuel Ironbar, Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Governor, Nsa Gill and Comrade Archibong Bassey NUJ chairman, Cross River State. They appreciated His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Otu, Executive Governor of Cross River State for allowing enabling environment for the success of the polls expected to drive development at the grass roots.
The elected Chairmen were issued Certificates of Return by CROSTEC Chairman Dr. Ekong Boco and are scheduled to be sworn-in into office today Monday, November 4, 2024 by Governor Bassey Otu.
