ASUU Strike: NAN leads students protest in Ekiti

Some Students under the umbrella body of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) on Thursday blocked major roads in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.

The blockade according to the Students was to protest the prolonged industrial action by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) which has put their studies on hold.

The Students are armed with placards of various inscriptions like, “Pay our lecturers, let’s go back to school”, “End ASUU Strike now”, and “Our future supersedes your Ambition” among others.

NANS President, Sunday Asefon who spoke with newsmen at the venue of the protest at the popular Fajuyi area of the State capital said the protest was as a result of several failed negotiations with the Federal Government.

Asefon however called on the State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, and other key stakeholders in the Country to intervene in the matter before it gets out of hand, as according to him, they have already been through a series of industrial crises in the past and should not be subjected to more hardship.
