Auxiliary nurse prime suspect in Mohbad’s death; vomited, developed goosebumps after three injections; autopsy reports still pending _ Police
The Lagos State Police Command has named an auxiliary nurse, Feyisayo Ogedemgbe, as the prime suspect in the death of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad.
The Lagos CP disclosed this at a press briefing on Friday at the state Command headquarters, Ikeja, Lagos.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Idowu Owohunwa, has disclosed that late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba aka Mohbad, began vomiting and developed goosebumps after he was injected three times by a nurse, Feyisayo Ogedemgbe, on September 12, 2023 who invited by Mohbad’s friend, Ayobami Sodiq aka Spending .
Mohbad was rushed to a hospital in Lekki, where he was pronounced dead later.
The CP also declared that Ogedemgbe is neither a qualified nor registered nurse, and her illegal and medical negligence are believed to have been directly responsible for the chain reactions and eventual death of Mohbad.
Ogedemgbe is currently in custody and is facing charges of homicide. The police are also investigating the role of other suspects in the case.
Owohunwa was giving preliminary reports of investigation conducted by the police team to unravel the circumstance that led to the death of Mohbad.
“As of today, a total of 26 witnesses have been interviewed,” the CP said.
He said those interrogated include Mohbad’s father, mother, sisters, brother, wife and manager among several others.
Owohunwa said that the investigation is ongoing and that further updates will be provided in due course.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that the autopsy reports on the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, are still being awaited.
The autopsy was conducted on September 21, 2023, after Mohbad’s body was exhumed. Vital specimens were taken and sent to the Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre for analysis.
The police in a press conference Friday, urged Nigerians to remain calm and patient as they await the results of the autopsy.
“Prior to the uproar that greeted his death which informed the launch of the homicide investigation, on 21 September 2023, the corpse was exhumed and on the same day at 16.00 CAT autopsy was conducted on the remains of the deceased, and vital specimens were taken and sent to the Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre for toxicology examination, the reports are still being awaited,” he said during a press conference on Friday.
“Also being awaited is the official response from the NDLEA on one of the viral videos containing allegations by the singer on his experience in the agency’s office sometime in October 2022,” Owohunwa said.
“Although the result of the autopsy and toxicology tests are being awaited, substantial grounds have been covered well enough by the special investigation team to support the processing of the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution,” the commissioner added.
“Consequently, the case file is being duplicated and forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution for vetting and legal advice, the outcome of which will inform further investigative actions and prosecution.”
He reassured the public that “they would be availed of any further development in relation to the outcome of the autopsy and toxicology report, DPP advice, feedback from NDLEA and any other development the investigation to the case” and stated that “the Command will sustain its firm determination to ensure justice in the case.”
The accused mentioned by the police commissioner included Naira Marley, Sam Larry, Primeboy, and an assistant nurse named Ms. Feyisayo Ogedengbe.
“Five suspects have so far been identified, arrested, detained, and interrogated on their alleged roles in the sequence of events that led to the death of the singer,” he further added.
Earlier on Tuesday night, Police Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin announced it had taken into custody controversial singer Azeez Fashola, alias Naira Marley for interogation in connection with the controversial death of his former record label signee, Ilerioluwa Aloba, alias Mohbad.
And in a tweet on Tuesday night, Naira Marley announced his arrival in Lagos to assist in the ongoing probe into Mohbad’death, while noting that he would be meeting with the police.
He said, “I’d like to share that I’ve just arrived back in Lagos, Nigeria to assist the authorities with the ongoing investigation. It’s important I do my part for Imole.
“I’ll be meeting with the police with hopes for the truth to be uncovered and for justice to prevail.”
