Ayade gives largesse to doctors in Cross River

In a surprise move to assuage medical doctors who are on a nation wide strike for failure of government to implement agreements entered into with them, the Cross River State Governor Senator (Prof.) Ben Ayade has approved the immediate implementation of 100% consolidated medical salary structure for doctors working in the state.

His wife and First Lady, Dr. (Mrs.) Linda Ayade who is a medical Doctor used the occasion to call on relevant authorities in the country to ensure the repositioning of medical facilities in the country to guarantee excellent health service delivery which will include commensurate pay to curb brain drain currently plaguing the health sector.

Dr. (Mrs.) Ayade made the speech at a press briefing organized by her office in collaboration with the state ministry of health to announce the good news of His Excellency’s approval for medical personnel’s in the state and described the incessant strike embarked upon by resident doctors as unfortunate, an ill wind that blows no one any good and call for an end saying it is against the ethos of the medical profession.

In her remark at the briefing, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Betta Edu, said the Governor have succeeded in leaving an indelible mark in the hearts of doctors in the state listing the Governor’s health care achievements to include the establishment of health care development agency, Health insurance scheme, building, renovation, equipping and staffing of primary and secondary health facilities as well as establishment of the first college of nursing science in the south-south among other Landmark achievements.

In his contribution, Chairman of Cross River State Chapter of Nigeria Medical association (NMA) Dr. Innocent Abang expressed joy and promised to reciprocate the Governor’s benevolence by putting in their best to achieve universal health coverage and make Cross river State Medical Tourism Hub in the Country.
