Ayade lifts embargo on employment, Cross Riverians kick
The recent lifting of the embargo on employment as announced by the office of the Head of Service in a release signed by the Head of Service, Mr. Timothy Akwaji gave Governor Ayade pass mark for recruitment to fill existing vacancies in the Civil Service which is shrinking and also to boost the workforce especially as the end of his tenure nears.
This is coming as some positions in the State civil service will be left vacant due to resignations, retirement, and other sundry reasons.
But a cross-section of the people of the state views the move as a ploy to engage foot soldiers in the civil service – Education, Health, and Judicial Sectors to bolster his resolve to plant a government that would cover his maladministration and unsavory tracks intended to deny some protesting civil servants whom he had refused to payroll despite repeated appeals since their engagement.
Some concerned citizens of the State who spoke on condition of anonymity to pressmen in Calabar Tuesday, November 15, 2022, likened the development to robbing Peter to pay Paul as he could have regularized those he employed without payrolling rather than embarking on a wild goose chase.
Efforts by the LENS Reporter to get a comment from the Head of Service on the issue proved abortive at the time of filing this report as he was said to be in a meeting in the office of the Governor.
