Bakassi council chairman breaks ground for modern motor park in Ikang
The Executive Chairman of Bakassi Local Government Council, Hon. (Chief) Iyadim Amboni Iyadim on Monday performed the groundbreaking and laying of the foundation stone for a modern motor park at Ikang in Bakassi Local Government Area of Cross River State.
The occasion was chaired by the clan head of Ikang, His Royal Highness Etiyin Effiong Kenneth, who also performed the traditional rite. Chief Barrister Ene Cobham called on all and sundry to see to the successful completion of the project which is aimed at disrupting touting as well as returning sanity to the commercial hub in Bakassi.
The function which was co-ordinated by the Secretary of the council, Hon. Eyo Bassey Edet (Empowerment) attracted dignitaries from the Local Government Area including the Head of Local Government Administration, Elder Paul Abuchie.
Iyadims’ achievement since assumption of office confirms the wisdom by the council of chief to have conferred on him the chieftaincy title of “ Utuenikang Bakassi” during his 100 days in office celebrated on September 9, 2020.
Fielding questions on the sideline from a LENS reporter, the councilor of Ward 5 which is the landlord community, Hon. Edem Ekeng Effanga appealed to the chairman to facilitate the restoration of electricity in the town which has been in darkness for the past three years and requested as well for the grading of feeder roads linking to the market for easy transportation of goods to and from the park.
Hon. (Chief) Iyadim promised to make their request known to the appropriate authority and sued for peace in the area to enhance development and improve the economy of Bakassi.
