Bayelsa Governor, Diri receives 10 rescued foreigners
The Bayelsa State government says it will continue to work with security agencies so as to nip the menace of kidnapping and waterways crime in the bud.
Governor Douye Diri stated this as he received ten foreigners kidnapped in Delta state but freed in Bayelsa after 27 days in captivity.
The foreigners who are sailors were said to have been taken away by their abductors on 25th of November from their vessel MV Milan along the Pennington River, a border between Delta and Bayelsa state.
Handing over the foreigners to their agent, Governor Douye Diri reiterates government’s stance of zero tolerance to Kidnapping among other crimes.
Diri thanked the security agents for their act of professionalism, saying that Bayelsa is safe for investors and investments.
The rescued victims included 4 Indians, 3 Lebanese, 2 Egyptians, and a Cameroonian.
