A lady 84, in the helpers ministry in Christendom, Bishop (Dr.) Grace Effiong Edet (O.O.N) has called on leaders to turn back to God for the interest of Nigeria.
The General Overseer of Divine Grace Everlasting Revival Mission Calabar spoke with newsmen on Tuesday while commenting on the level of development in the country when she donated a church building to God.
Bishop Edet said that unless the leaders of this country begin to appreciate God and offer service for the benefit of mankind, the growth and development of this country will remain at infancy.
According to her, those in leadership positions have deviated from God and enthroned human leadership thereby causing pains in the society.
The octogenarian said politicians have failed the nation because of greed and corruption “Calabar being the first state of Nigeria would have been better than this. All over the country there is a lot of infrastructural decay. No good roads, electricity, drinking water”.
The philanthropist and hospitality industrialist said “I am blessed by God and I am trying to appreciate God and support humanity. “ I built this church without the support of any individual or organization”.
“There are four churches like this which I have donated to God for His Blessings. Each costs N40-50 million Naira”. “At 84 I am still strong and healthy. I am doing this to thank God for His faithfulness and blessings”
The cleric has contributed in other ways to the development of the society by awarding scholarships to many undergraduate students studying at home and aboard.
A member of the order of the Niger (OON), she has received many awards from Universities, churches, corporate bodies and organizations for her immense contributions to humanity.
