Breaking: FG knocks Lagos EndSARS panel report

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed has described the report of the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry as a waste of resources as it is riddled with discrepancies, errors, inconsistencies, and inuendoes.

Mohammed said this some minutes ago at a media conference in Abuja, where he faulted the report alleging neglect of evidence given by ballistic experts among others. He said the Federal Government can not identify with a leaked document until the white paper is released by the Lagos State Government.

He insisted that no family member has come out to identify any dead relative as being speculated i. He called on any bereaved family to speak out and not be intimidated as is being insinuated in the report.

The Minister again took a swipe at CNN for celebrating a fake report of the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry without applying due diligence to authenticate it.

He upheld that unless an evidential report is provided, nothing will make the Federal Government change its earlier stand that there was no massacre at the Lekki Toll Gate on October 20 last year during the #EndSARS protest.

Mohammed said the report of the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry did not capture police officers, other law enforcement officers, and others who were also injured during the #EndSARS protest, wondering if they are not Nigerians worthy of receiving compensation as recommended in the report.

The Minister who alleges that the leaked report of the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry is aimed at embarrassing the Federal Government responded to a question from a journalist on the comment of a US official on the report. He retorted asking whether the official would have responded in the same manner if the report were to emanate from the US.
