Breaking: INEC announce Umaru Fintiri winner of Adamawa election

Nigeria’s Independent National Electorial Commission has announced the incumbent Governor of Adamawa state, Umaru Fintiri winner of the March 18 resheduled Governorship/House of Assembly elections.

The announvement was made by Professor Muhammadu Mele, the Adamawa state Returning Officer in the evening of Tuesday, April 19 at the State INEC collation center in Yola the Adamawa state capital.

The PDP gubernatorial candidate Umaru Fintiri scored 430,861 votes to defeat his near rival Senator Aishatu ‘Binani’ Dahiru Binani of the APC who scored 398, 778 votes.

INEC’s Director of Information and Voter Education Festus Okoye was present at the highly charged atmosphere of the event which had heavy security presence.
