C’ River 2023: Owan-Enoh backpedals, withdraws case against APC guber candidate

A governorship aspirant Senator John Owan-Enoh who lost in the All Progressives Congress Primaries in Cross River State at a news conference in Abuja on Wednesday withdrew the case filled in court against the APC governorship candidate Senator (Prince) Bassey Otu.

He said his decision was based on the recent public appeal by the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu during his Town-Hall meeting in Calabar. He described the entreaty of the National Leader of the ruling party as humbling which he cannot ignore under any circumstance.

He reiterated his respect for Bola Tinubu as reflected in his decision to put an end to the litigation and work instead for the success of the party. He called on his supporters and other aggrieved party members to bury the hatchet and join him in the renewed commitment to move the party forward as APC cannot afford to go into the next election fragmented, factionalized, and disunited.

Owan-Enoh was one of the governorship aspirants of the APC but lost to Prince Bassey Otu at the party’s primaries in May 2022 resulting in his taking the party and Prince Otu, winner of the primary, to Court alleging irregularities.

And with this development, the coast in now clear for the party to accelerate campaigns and other political activities toward actualizing a power shift to the South in Cross River State in 2023.
