C’ River government constitutes traffic committee to monitor, apprehend defaulters

The Cross River State Government has constituted a Traffic Management and Enforcement Committee to regulate traffic in the State.

The development was communicated in a press release signed by Donatus Ejemot Esu, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, and made available to a local online media on Friday.

According to the statement, the responsibilities of the committee which has Effiom Yellow Duke as Chairman and Bassey Bassey Ubi as Secretary, is to apprehend defaulters of traffic lights, motorists driving against traffic, overloading, wrong parking resulting in traffic congestion and other traffic infractions.

The release read in part: “In pursuant to the mandate of the Ministry of Transportation which includes amongst others, the supervision, regulation, monitoring, and evaluation of the implementation of all transportation policies and programs, the undertested persons have been constituted into the Traffic Management and Enforcement Committee, in accordance with Law No 2, 2015 of Traffic management regulatory Agency (TRAMRA) law.

“Members of the Committee include Ayi Daniel as Director of operations, while the following are members; Imaikop Paul, Etim Isaac Michael, Emem Offiong Etim, Eyo Ekpo Otu, Joseph Kingsley Okon, Abasifreke Okon, Emmanuel Edet Asuquo, Bassey Bassey Ubi, John Michael and Effiom Ntiero.

“They are hereby authorized to apprehend defaulters of traffic light, driving against traffic and overloading, wrong parking and causing traffic congestion and any other assignment as would be authorized by the Honorable Commissioner for Transportation.”
