Calabar Canaan City Lions Club embarks on multi-million naira E-Library project in Calabar

Calabar Canaan City lions Club said it has embarked on the construction of an E-Library at the State Library Complex, Calabar.

President of the Club, Lion Effiwatt Ekpenyong Bassey disclosed this in an interview with Lens correspondent during his investiture as well as constituting the Board of Directors for 2021/2022 Service year.

He explained that the E-Library will be equipped with 150 lab-top computers and will be installed with internet facilities to enhance learning and research.

The President further said that the legacy project was 80% nearing completion and would gulp a huge amount to facilitate completion.

“The project will be handed over to the state when completed to manage. We feel that it would be one of the best things in the state and would promote research. The youth will explore the internet world and this engagement would put them off the street”.

“We solicit your support to raise funds towards its completion. The E-Library shall be of immense succor to the youth and scholars in the state”.

Earlier, the outgoing president Lion Nnaemeka Victor Ohaeri said that the Club in 2020/2021 embarked on many projects that had great impact on the lives of the less privileged in the community.

He also said that there was a screening and awareness campaign on eye test and contract/glaucoma surgeries.

According to the late president, the club undertook a severed direct humanitarian endeavor through feeding the Hungry project at the various women Motherless Baby Home Ugep and celebration of the International Women Day through the donation of sanitary towels to young girls at Wapi Secondary School Calabar.

The Chairman of the occasion Etubom (Arc.) Bassey Ndem who declared the occasion open pleaded with members to always keep to time in attending functions.

The high point of the event was the presentation of awards to some distinguished Nigerians including the state governor, Prof. Sen. Ben Ayade, and others.
