Calabar residents assured of safety during 14th Utomo Obong celebration
The Chairman of Obong of Calabar Executive Forum, High Chief Gershom Henshaw, MFR has given assurance that the 14th Utomo Obong celebration in Calabar where all Efik indigenes in Nigeria and in the diaspora congregate to pay yuletide homage to His Eminence Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V, natural ruler, treaty king defender of the Christian faith and Grand Patriarch of the Efik Kingdom.
High Chief Henshaw, Estate Surveyor, Valuer, Real Estate, Right of Way and Rap Consultant as well as principal partner of Gersh Henshaw and Company in the Press briefing highlighted the activities of 2025 Utomo Obong disclosing that the shift from the earlier plan to host the event at the U.J. Esuene Stadium, which was considered ideal to accommodate the ever increasing population to the Yuletide celebration is reverted to the traditional Adiabo venue in tandem with traditional injunction where a king cannot be asked to receive honour during Utomo Obong festival outside his domain.
He used the occasion to elaborate on the theme of the celebration which is peace in Efik Kingdom as Jesus Christ who is the reason for the season.
Dignitaries at the press briefing which was held at Palace of the Obong of Calabar, include Chief Engr. Idim Ikpeme, Effiom Effiwatt among others.
Sir Arthur Jarvis Archibong, Chancellor Arthur Jarvis University, Akpabuyo is slated to be the Chairman of 2025 Utomo Obong Celebration. Executive Governor, Cross River State, Apostle Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu will be the special guest of honour supported by other prominent Efik sons and daughters.
