Canon Partners Media Practitioners Association in Cross River on World Photography Day

Residents in Calabar, the peoples paradise were happy to witness photo-city walk which was colourful and engaging. The caravan which took-off from Millennium Park along Mary Slessor Avenue to Carnival Village at Calabar Municipal Council off Marian Road extension, saw Camera-men and selected media practitioners adorned in branded T-Shirts and face caps of Canon to commemorate 2021 photography day. The event which was in collaboration with Canon had as its theme “Sustaining the earth treasure through our Lens”.

The event closed with an award night at the banquet hall in the Christmas village featuring music performances and comedy by upcoming artistes like the young shall grow and Godspower Monday a.k.a DJ Power, an awardee of excellence in sound engineering spanning about 20 years of industry experience.

The award presentation coordinated by the General Secretary of MPAN, Comrade Innocent Patrick, had the association president and Head of Media in Cross River Sate Carnival Commission, Comrade Prince Nsa Ekpeyong describing the 3rd edition of the event as spectacular saying notable feats have been achieved notwithstanding the Covid-19 restrictions.

In their separate responses, the awardees, Chief Alex Okolo-outstanding to media industry, Mr. Chris Odinto, Kelvin Beke who dedicated his award to his mentor, Dr. Ben Williams of LENS Strokes, Mr. Dominic Okwudiri and Association Vice President Eddy – Lizz, poured encomiums on the outstanding quality output of CANON still and motion Cameras which enhances professionalism in service delivery.

And while fielding questions from LENS reporter after the event, Mr. Inyang Awatt, a still photographer and Pastor Antai Archibong, drone specialist/motion picture producer, a theatre arts graduate described photography as the act of depicting the present, preserving the past and creating memories accurately in great details for posterity.

The roll call of recognized media establishments at the epoch gathering were LENS Newspapers, NTA, AIT, Channels, CRBC Radio/TV, HITS 95.9 FM, FAD 93.1 FM, and MFUDI Communications System Nigeria-dealers in Digital Cameras who described EOS CIOO Mar, NEW EOS R Full Range mirror less system canon cameras as exclusive bundle offer for professional storytellers.

Best Media award was presented to Young MONEY Digital Hub, a posthumous award was given to Peter Bello Foundation, Comrade Prince Nsa Ekpeyong (001). MPAN appreciated all guests for gracing the occasion and looked forward to a more robust working relationship with partners while urging colleagues and associates to take photography to the next level with CANON innovations in digitalizing their products.
