Carnival Calabar resonates at inter-house sport competition of Government Science and Technical College, Calabar

As a precursor to the 20th anniversary celebration of Carnival Calabar in December 2025, the artistic performance of the cultural troope in the 3rd annual inter-house sport competition of Government Science and Technical College, Ishie town, Calabar Municipal Council Area of Cross River has resonated the excitement during the hip-hop and traditional dance parades by the competing houses at the event held Thursday March, 20th 2025 in the school premises.

In her welcome address, chairman of the occasion, Elder Mrs. Offiong Ikpainyang reminded the athletes that the event was not a do-or-die affair as there must always be a winner and a loser in any competition hence the need for them to exhibit spirit of good sportsmanship.

The executive secretary of the State Board for Technical Education and Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board who were represented appreciated the staff, students and parents of the school for their support towards the success of the event which featured parade, match pass, track and field et cetera.

The Councilor representing ward 6, Calabar Municipal Council Area and host of the school, Hon. Emmanuel Mkpanam announced scholarship to the best dancer, while Secretary of Parent Teachers Association (PTA) of the school, Mr. Benedict Abijah and the M.C reckoned the benefit of sports in the life of a student.

The Principal, Mr. Jeremiah Atseye in his vote of thanks commended his staff for the success of the festival.

During presentation of trophies and prizes, Yellow House emerged the over-all winner followed by Green House which took the second position and Red House third and Blue House was commended for putting-up a good performance.

The event which attracted dignitaries and spectators that graced the colourful event. Goodwill message was received from the office of the Honourable Commissioner for Science. And Technology, Hon. Justin Beshel.
