CBN to Support food creation to escape looming food crisis
The Minister of Agriculture, Dr Mohammed Mahmood Abubakar has said that the Anchor Borrowers program of the Central Bank of Nigeria ( CBN) has had the option to close the gap between the stockpile of maize grains by homegrown and modern users.
The Minister who was addressed by the North West Zonal Director Dr Timkat Vontav, talked at the divulging of the Maize Pyramid by President Muhammadu Buhari in Kaduna on Thursday.
The Central Bank of Nigeria( CBN) notwithstanding, said it had arranged a more powerful and ideal wet season to begin in April 2022 for maize and other key grains like rice, wheat, cassava, sorghum, and soybeans to alleviate the looming food emergency occasioned by the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Speaking further, the Minister of Agriculture communicated please “to be welcome to this age making occasion of the Unveiling of Second Maize Pyramid by President Muhammadu Buhari, coordinated by the Maize Association of Nigeria (MAAN) in collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).”
