Centenary passage of a matriarch Madam Mayen Mbaba
The Peaceful passage of a centenarian late Madam Mayen Essien Mbaba (Nee-Mayen Asuquo Ekwere) at the golden age of 111 years has been described by many as a testimony to her pious lifestyle while on earth.
The Chief mourner and son of the deceased, His Lordship Bishop Essien Ubong Essien of the Divine Covenant Zion Church worldwide made the statement while fielding questions from a LENS Reporter in Calabar on Monday during the closure of the mourning ceremony for the matriarch who was born on 8th June 1910 into the family of Nung Unya Obio Ndem Odung in Ikot Odung Ikono, Uyo L.G.A of Akwa Ibom State.
The devoutly religious woman who dedicated herself to the service of God passed on to the great beyond on 23rd September 2021 after blessing her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Her body was laid to rest on Saturday 19th November 2022 at a funeral conducted by The Apostolic Church Nigeria Ikot Odung Ikono District, Ikot Oku Area in Uyo Field, Akwa Ibom State Territory led by Apostle E.I. Umoren, and other ministers of the gospel from different Christian denominations within and outside Nigeria.
The Family’s Consolation is that she entered into life quietly, existed doggedly and exited peacefully to be with her maker.
She is survived by many children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren among whom is Barrister Andy Essien Ubong and Clement Essien Ubong, an ICT digital graphic designer.
