Church, academic bands boost outing of 2nd Carnival Calabar dry run

Africa’s biggest street party, Carnival Calabar received a boost from the church and academic community during the November 17th, 2024 second dry run.

The maiden participation of Dynamics Band from Brotherhood of the Cross and Star and University of Calabar Band in the November Dry-Run added colour to the event.

The event which was flagged-off by Cross River State Governor, Senator Princes Bassey Edet Otu through Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon. Elvert Ayambem at the millienum park, Calabar had all the former bands participating show casing colourful costumes and parading along designated carnival routes which was blocked to traffic by law enforcement officials.

In their separate remarks at the occasion, representative of one of the sponsors, Ms Ojo of Multi-choice and Mr Sunny Onuoha of European Cultural center in Nigeria corroborated Governor Bassey Otu optimism that the 2024 Carnival will be better than previous editions due to extra effort made to catapult the event to another level being the nations tourism destination.

Dignitaries that graced the occasion include management and staff of the state Carnival Commission and office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Culture, Tourism and Event management, among others.
