CILT Nigeria announces 2022 National Conference, AGM

Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Nigeria (CILT) has commenced preliminary publicity of its national conference and AGM scheduled for October 11 and 12.

The media convergence briefing on Thursday by Prof. Kayode Oyesiku, Chairman, Conference Planning Committee CILT Nigeria at Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos periscoped the two-day event of the Institute.

The conference themed ‘sustainable innovations in global logistics and transport’ is expected to congregate industry players, policymakers, and other critical stakeholders in Nigeria and oversee to identify and examine the challenges in the industry as well as proffer effective solutions for national logistics and transport operations among other key goals.

And harping on the importance of logistics in the economic development of any country, Oyesiku said the logistics performance index (LPI) of nations is now the yardstick for measuring their economic resilience and competitiveness.

“Wherever the LPI’s are weak, the economy is vulnerable and susceptible to uncertainty and high business risks. They are categorized as having poor education and health care systems as well as poor social welfare and security framework,” he said.

This year’s trade gathering according to him will introduce applied methodologies, a new layer of innovation to deepen the practical aspects of logistics and transport thereby enhancing practitioners’ ability to handle observed flaws in the sector.

Multiple technical sessions to be led by hands-on resource persons will feature in the event aimed primarily at interrogating the future of logistics and transport operations in the country given the rapidly changing service environment, innovations in ICT, and other extraneous variables that impact the industry in contemporary Nigeria.

Another checklist of the event as reflected in the press statement is the outdoor experiential learning programme for participants tagged ‘ Technical Guarded Tour.’ Delegates will be led by the institute on facility visits to the Lekki Deep Seaport and Eco Atlantic City on the second day. The rationale is to expose participants to the strategies used by the duo to reach the present success levels as well as future plans.

He said the reason for the media interaction is to hype publicity for the event with a view to attracting a significant number of participants from the transport and logistics trade and allied stakeholders in Nigeria.
