Clergy condoles Akwa Ibom in burial of late Prelate Mbang

Dignitaries flooded the funeral service of late Prelate Emeritus, Methodist church Nigeria, Sunday Kofi Mbang in Akwa Ibom.

A cleric and lead pastor of Gospel House, Home of the Gospel House Deliverance Ministry International with headquarters in Calabar, Cross River State Pastor James Johnhas condoled Akwa Ibom State, Christians in the country and World Methodist Council on the funeral of the great Christian Icon held at the Methodist Church Cathedral, 45 Liverpool Road, Eket in Akwa Ibom State.

In a chat with newsmen in Calabar on Friday 11th August, 2023, Pastor James John, an indigene of Akwa Ibom State wished the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno the fortitude to bear the demise of prelate Sunday Mbang who would have offered him excellent counsel as a Christian father.

Already, former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel was at Victor Attah International Airport to receive former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections and former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi who are expected to attend the funeral service.

In a social media post, Udom Emmanuel said Obasanjo was in excellent health and that he was happy that he was able to come down to pay his last respects to his bossom friend, the late prelate Mbang.

Peter Obi is also believed to come to honour late (Dr.) Sunday Mbang as an inlaw of Akwa Ibom State as his wife Mrs. Margret Peter Obi hails from Onna Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

The former president Olusegun Obasanjo was quoted as saying that Dr. Sunday Mbang is the only Nigerian Pastor He believes will make heaven. Reports monitored from newsmen at the funeral services of late prelate Emeritus of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Dr. Sunday Mbang in Eket, Akwa Ibom State revealed that Obasanjo said he thinks Mbang is the only Christian leader in Nigeria who is sure to make heaven because he was not only forthright but also a man of great wisdom.

Obasanjo said that he consulted with Mbang shortly after his release from prison in 1998 when he was considering running for president of Nigeria. He said that Mbang’s advice was invaluable to him and that he gained enormously from him and confirmed that Mbang was a man who was always sought out for his advice because of his forthrightness.

Dr. Sunday Mbang was the First Black President of the World Methodist Council, died in Uyo on Tuesday May 16, 2023 at the ripe age of 86years.
