Cleric applauds Governor Otu for inaugurating diaspora commission; inking 3 laws to progress governance
The inauguration of the Cross River State Diaspora Commission to leverage development from the global community as well as assent to the 3 laws of advance governance in Cross River by the executive Governor, Senator Bassey Otu has been commended by a cleric Rev. Mfon Effiong Umoh.
Rev. Umoh who is a minister with the Mount Zion Light House Full Gospel Church Inc, Glory Land Assembly and All Progressives Congress party stalwart in ward 3, Calabar Municipal Government Area, used the occasion while fielding questions from newsmen on Thursday, May 15th 2025 in Calabar, to call on the Governor to rejig his people first mantra administration and season of sweetness to impact measurable development in the grass-roots thereby fostering inclusiveness as many of his foot-soldiers in the 2023 gubernatorial elections are yet to be rewarded.
It would be recalled that Governor Otu inaugurated Cross River State Diaspora Commission (CRSDC) in a significant step to engage Cross Riverians living abroad in the state plans and development projects. He seized the moment as well to sign three key laws to strengthen infrastructure, regulate the gaming industry, support senior citizens and improve social welfare. The legislative action is part of his administration’s commitment to his “People-First” governance approach, designed to address the needs of residents across the state.
The newly signed laws include; Cross River State Road Maintenance Agency (Amendment) law, 2025, Cross River State Lotteries and Gaming Agency Law, 2025 and Cross River State Senior Citizen Centre Law, 2025 which highlights the strategic importance of these laws to align with his government’s priorities for development and people-centric policies deemed according to the cleric as ‘timely and crucial to the development of the State’.
