Cleric commends Cross River first lady for facilitating maiden interdenominational solemn assembly
The lead pastor of Gospel House, Home of the Gospel Deliverance Ministry International headquartered in Calabar, Pastor James John has commended the First Lady and Wife of the Cross River State Governor, Rev (Mrs.) Eyoawan Bassey Otu for organizing the first edition of the state’s interdenominational solemn assembly themed: “Heal our Land oh Lord”, held at the Calabar International conference Center (CICC).
He said this on Saturday July 8, 2023 during the maiden edition of the spiritual convocation where Governor Bassey Otu said that piloting the affairs of the state is a challenging task in his speech at the occasion attended by executives and members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) led by Rev. (Dr.) Takis Etim Caifas the Cross River State Chapter Chairman of CAN who specially prayed for the governor and his family.
Governor Otu explained that “piloting the affairs of the state is not an easy task which is why to sought the face and direction of the author of wisdom to move the state forward since He alone and the people elected to represent the state in various capacities of government will not be able to do the work, hence all must come together to build the state of our dream”.
He urged all to join him in the journey of a spiritual renaissance as he repositions the state, adding that there would be enough for everyone to benefit without necessarily pulling down their fellow citizens.
Governor Otu said, “this is the time for us to build the state, what is most important to me is leaving an indelible footprint on the sounds of time after the service period because the state is a land of abundance and now is the time to jointly harness God’s given resources found across the three senatorial districts of the state for the betterment of our people from our prayer today, I can”.
“ It would be recalled that barely a month ago, Cross Riverians assembled like this to celebrate the victory and enthronement of the ‘season of sweetness’, today is the spiritual seasoning of that season as Cross River State was doing well until it eventually collapsed but as we all heed to God’s directives to gather and pray in unity, God will heal and restore our land again” Prince Otu concluded.
In his sermon, General overseer of Christian Chapel International Church, Bishop Emmah Isong “admonished Cross Riverians to see themselves as partners in progress in creating a peaceful, united and economically viable state that will be the envy of all” while speaking on the theme “TURN AWAY FROM EVIL” as recorded in 2nd Chronicles 7:14, enumerating some of the evil acts that has overtaken the land and affected governance negatively to include selfishness, blackmail, double crossing among other vices that are inimical to growth and development.
According to Isong, “politics is over, all must come together to build Cross River State of our dreams devoid of all divisible tendencies”.
Dignitaries at the event include the state Chief Judge, Justice Akon Ikpeme, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Eyambem, party stalwarts and some religious leaders.
