Cleric condemns Anglican priest for promoting polygamy
Sequel to the designation and proclamation of the Gideon Movement and the proposal to establish Gideons Temple to promote Polygamy by the Anglican priest, Rev. Ogbuchukwu Makuo Lotana, a lawyer from Mbanagu Otolo, Nnewi in Anambra State, a cleric Bishop Abraham Bassey Enoh of Christ Divine Foundation Ministries has condemned the move which he describes as heresy in the gospel.
Enoh premised his position on 1st Timothy 3:1-3 “ This is true if a man desires the office of a Bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behavior, given to hospitality, and to teach” and verse 12 “Let the Deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well” saying it is a contradiction to the scriptures and wondering why a trained and ordained minister of God should deviate from the Bible and want the church to follow him and practice his alternative believe which is against the principles of the Christian faith.
He, therefore, urged the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the umbrella body of churches in Nigeria, and other relevant Christian bodies to rise up and prevent this act of apocalypse which if not checked will destroy the institution of marriage and the foundation of the family against God’s prescribed doctrine in Gen 2: 24 which states, “ Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother and shall cleave unto his wife, and he shall be one flesh.”
On Tuesday, September 13, 2022, while fielding questions from a LENS Reporter at the church auditorium in Calabar, Enoh said marriage is a divine relationship in the Christendom between a man and a woman and not between a man and women.
