Cleric harped on the significance of Palm Sunday
Apostle C.Y. Etokeren has described Palm Sunday as Christ’s Triumphant’s entry to Jerusalem and victory over problems in the lives of Christians according to Zechariah 9:9.
Apostle Etokeren gave the admonition in a sermon he preached on Sunday, April 10, at the Light of Salvation Church alongside Pastor Philip Iyamba Effiong, General Overseer of Mountain of Redemption and Restoration Deliverance Ministries, Ebiet Okon in Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River State.
Referencing Mathew 21:1-11 he assured every believer of a turn-around for good in their endeavors in line with the spirit of the holy week which began with the LENT period to commemorate the Easter celebration in the Christian calendar. Easter is a period that marks the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the hope of our salvation.
In a related development, Barrister (Mrs.) Omolola Okun, a church worker with Edge Point Christian Centre, located at Goodluck Jonathan By-pass in Calabar has kicked-against Palm Sunday activities saying that Christ did not direct his followers to observe it unlike the Holy Communion (Eucharist) and soul-winning which is a mandate for evangelism to reconcile sinners to Christ.
She used the occasion to invite singles both male and female to a marriage seminar every Wednesday evening in the church auditorium to guide them to successful relationships devoid of incidence of domestic violence in marriages.
Okun advised couples against acts of vindictiveness but should learn to forgive and forget as the wedding is not a bed of roses.
