Cleric suggests declaration of slain Deborah Samuel as martyr

The resident minister of Family Worship Center, Calabar, Pastor Peter Oko Ekaji has called on all Christians to declare late Sister Deborah Samuel who was killed and burnt to death by angry Muslim Youths in Sokoto on Thursday over alleged blasphemy as a martyr.

Pastor Ekaji made the plea in a sermon he preached on Sunday at Gomays Hotel church location along Atekong Drive in Calabar titled; “THE IMPORTANCE OF THE WORD OF GOD” referencing 2 Timothy 3:16. He said that the Holy Bible which is the logos becomes Rhema when backed up by the Holy Spirit who interprets it for human understanding.

He cited the gruesome murder of Deborah as an act of inhumanity and warned against statements that may further inflame the problem quoting Matthew 10:28 “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul, but rather fear Him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell”. He admonished the church to ask God to give us the grace and wisdom to handle the situation to avoid being hijacked by hoodlums thereby aggravating the already fragile security situation in the country.
