Cleric supports federal lawmaker to clinch Cross River Southern Senatorial seat
The member representing Akamkpa/Biase Federal Constituency in the federal House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Daniel Asuquo and Labour Party Candidate has been tipped to win the Cross River Southern Senatorial District slot in the 2023 general elections.
Pastor Dr. franklin Egbe, the coordinator of Obi-Datti likes movement and Dansuki’s Neigbourhood Movement made the revelation in a chat with newsmen in Calabar on Saturday.
Egbe, a native of Akamkpa hinged his forecast on the premise of equity arguing that since Senators have emerged from other federal constituencies that make up the Southern Senatorial District, it is morally expedient that power should shift to Akamkpa/Biase Federal Constituency which has not been occupied the position since the return of democracy in 1999. And by his inference, the federal lawmaker popularly referred to as Dasuki should be given the chance to represent the people of the Southern Senatorial District in 2023 in the spirit of fair play.
He cited as well the massive support Rt. Hon. Asuquo is enjoying from youths due to his impressive representation at the National Assembly as well as the impressive human and infrastructural development he has attracted to the area thereby surety that he will replicate the same if voted to represent the people at the upper legislative chamber in 2023.
Again, the House of Reps member is expected to leverage the strength and popularity of the Labour Party (LP) Presidential Candidate Mr. Peter Obi, the former Governor of Anambra State who has an indelible record in governance and has shown verifiable capacity in rejigging the economy of Nigeria.
Other key contenders for the Senatorial slot are Ntufam Ekpo Okon and Mr. Ekpenyong Jnr. of the Peoples Democratic Party and All Progressives Congress respectively.
