Cleric urges children to honour their parents

The General Overseer of Prayer Rain Assembly, Rev. (Commander) Peter Effiong has admonished children to honour their parents so as to get blessings from God instead of despising them while alive and engaging in lavish burial upon their death.

Reverend Effiong gave the admonition at the welfare and mantle service held in the church auditorium on Sunday, 9th October 2022 at Ikot Ansa, Calabar Municipal Council Area in Cross River State.

Referencing Exodus 20:12, “Honour thy father and thy mother, that it may be well with thee and that thou mayest live long on the good land which the Lord thy God gives thee.”

While condemning the vogue of calling elderly parents witches and wizards, he urged parents not to provoke their children to anger according to Ephesians 6:4, “And you fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in training and admonition of the Lord”.

The occasion featured testimonies, thanksgiving, and sharing of mantles, breaking of the fast after his 40 days of partial abstinence from food as instructed by the holy spirit to usher in a rancour-free political parties campaign for the 2023 general Elections.
