Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed on Thursday responded to the investigative report by the Atlanta based Cable News Network-CNN on the October 20 Lekki shootings aired yesterday.
Mohammed who described the report as one-dimensional and lacking in balance, validated an earlier report done by the BBC which he described was based more on facts.
He referenced to previous reporting done by CNN as lacking balance, insisting that the military fired blank bullets into the air and not at the crowd. Security agents, he said, deserve commendation and not condemnation.
And explaining the imbalance reportage of CNN, he said the trans national media giant report conveniently excluded the looting, violence by citizens, 269 private facilities burnt and looted, 243 govt facilities vandalized.
In addition, he said that CNN should be sanctioned for misinformation and irresponsible reporting.
He urged persons with facts on the alleged massacres as well as relatives with missing family members to report at the judicial panel of inquiry in Lagos to make official complaints.
